Hey there. Kara here. Before I describe the rundown of my day, I think I should explain some things. I am a Mormon, and proud of it. In a general area where we live, it's called a ward. Put a bunch of areas together, and it's called a stake. The individual wards get together every Sunday for three hours. Twice a year, the stake meets together for two hours. These stake meetings are called Stake Conference. Today was one of those days. The meeting started at 10:00, where we listened to talks and sang songs. We had brought my niece and nephew along because my sister is at work today, and we kept them entertain with Sudoku, word search puzzles, and paper to color on. Just when we thought we wouldn't last a minute longer, the meeting ended. We came home and fed the kids. My older brother (who got divorced over a year ago) is living in our basement with his two kids. James has never fed them the most nutritious food, and that became obvious when my nephew declared, "I love Ramen Noodles because they will make me super strong!" I had to bite my tongue to not argue back.
For the next several hours we will be putting together a German dinner (mmmmm....) while i pray for sanity to survive dinner (we average 16-30 people each Sunday and it gets REALLY loud). I have been assigned a gingerbread cake with orange frosting, while my brother cooks the brats (brauts?). My mom made hot potato salad, which is pretty much to die for. The food will be worth the craziness.
Quick Snack: Issy's cracker sandwiches
Category: unhealthy but delicious, great for kids to great great aunts twice removed
6 or 8 Saltine crackers
Butter
Peanut butter
Honey
Take a cracker. Spread a thin layer of butter, then peanut butter, then honey. Take another cracker and place it on top. Repeat this with the other crackers. Quick, easy, and fattening. :)
Opinion of the day: Nutrition
I understand when a parent feeds a child unhealthy food because they're busy or are short on money. But when a parent has the time and money to feed their children the kind of foods they need, then DO IT. It's hard to watch the effects it has on their bodies years later. Laziness is no excuse to ruin your child's chances of having good health.
